FOGC - Visit to Christ Church, Oxford

Monday 28th September, 9:00
FOGC members, and their guests, are invited to join an all-day coach trip to Christ Church, Oxford on Monday 28th September, to include lunch in the famous Great Hall of the College.

We will be accompanied by Patrick Leavey, who is a Gloucester Cathedral Guide and an accredited Guide at Christ Church. We still start with a journey through Christ Church Cathedral's rich stained-glass heritage. The tour will include windows from the early 14th century, painted glass from the 17th century, Victorian windows and the exquisite legacy left by the Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones, and our newest windows by Patrick Reyntiens (St Francis, 2024) and Thomas Denny (Return of the Prodigal Son, 2025). There will also be the opportunity to learn more about the College in the afternoon.
Your ticket will include lunch in the Tudor Dining Hall (please state any specific dietary requirements in the special requirements section), which also contains notable stained glass, a hammer-beam roof and portrait collection.

The coach will pick up travellers from the Gloucester Westgate carpark, followed by the Royal Well coach station, Cheltenham before travelling onward to Oxford. Please advise us of your preferred pick-up point in the special requirements section of the booking form.

If you are not already a member of the Friends of Gloucester Cathedral, and would like to join, an application form can be found on our website: https://gloucestercathedral.org.uk/support/friends/join
